In two days, we helped turn the Raleigh Convention Center into a full FNCS / Fortnite live-event environment—installing roughly 15,000 sq ft of graphics across massive windows, truss-hung banners, and character-driven fabric displays to create an immersive fan experience.
Transforming RCC into a Fortnite Extravaganza
When Epic Games brought the FNCS Invitational to downtown Raleigh, the goal wasn’t subtle branding—it was total immersion. The FNCS Invitational took place at the Raleigh Convention Center on November 12–13, 2022, bringing 100 players (50 duos) to compete for a $1,000,000 prize pool in front of a sold-out crowd and global livestream audience.
That level of event production demands more than a few signs and a step-and-repeat. It requires a full environmental transformation—graphics that guide fans, frame camera shots, energize the space, and make every square foot feel like it belongs to the game.
That’s where we came in.
Big First Impression: 90’ x 30’ Window Graphics
If you’ve ever worked in a convention center, you know the front windows do a lot of heavy lifting. They set the tone before guests even walk through the doors—and for a major esports event, they also become part of the marketing machine (social photos, media coverage, “I’m here” moments).
For this project, we installed 90’ x 30’ window graphics across the front of RCC. The goal was immediate recognition and impact from the street—turning the building itself into a billboard for the competition.
Large-format window installs are equal parts precision and logistics: panel alignment, clean edges, glare considerations, and timing everything so the space stays operational while the transformation happens fast.

The Heavy Hitters: Double-Sided 30’ x 30’ Banners
Inside the venue, scale matters. Small banners disappear. For FNCS, we produced and installed double-sided 30’ x 30’ banners—the kind you don’t “notice,” you feel.
These were designed to be read from distance, from multiple angles, and under event lighting. Double-sided construction ensured they worked for both foot traffic and camera lines, helping anchor the visual identity throughout the main public areas.
15,000 Square Feet of Graphics, Installed Throughout the Space
By the time everything was up, we had installed approximately 15,000 sq ft of graphics throughout the convention center footprint—layering branding across the fan journey:
-
Banners and wayfinding elements across key corridors and transition points
-
Large visual moments that built anticipation as guests approached the exhibit hall
-
Environmental branding that made the venue feel fully “FNCS,” not just “RCC hosting FNCS”
This matters because FNCS wasn’t just another tournament. Epic positioned it as a major in-person return for Fortnite competition—drawing global attention and reinforcing Raleigh as a legitimate esports destination.

Character and Location Moments: Stretch Fabric Display Elements
One of the most fun parts of this build was bringing Fortnite’s personality into the physical space. Alongside the hard-hitting large banners and window graphics, we installed stretch fabric display elements featuring recognizable characters and key locations—the kind of visuals that fans instantly connect with.
Stretch fabric is ideal for this because it presents clean, high-end graphics with minimal glare, tight seams, and a polished finish under show lighting. It’s also forgiving in high-traffic environments where everything needs to look perfect for both attendees and cameras.
Truss Hanging in the Foyer: High-Rigging, High-Visibility
A major portion of the install included hanging banners on trusses in the foyer, which adds a different layer of complexity than wall or window work. Truss installs require careful planning around:
-
Height and access
-
Load and safety considerations
-
Sightlines (what guests see first, what cameras capture)
-
Time windows (because once show schedules begin, access tightens fast)
The foyer build-out was a key part of the “arrival experience”—turning a standard convention entry into a branded lead-in to the arena environment.

Completed in Two Days: Fast Turn, No Excuses
The full transformation was completed in two days.
That’s the reality of live events: the schedule doesn’t care how big the graphics are. You get your window, you execute, and everything must be camera-ready when doors open. This is where experience matters—planning installs that move efficiently, staging materials so crews aren’t waiting, and making sure every piece lands exactly where it should.

Why This Type of Work Separates True Event Graphics Teams
Plenty of shops can print banners. Far fewer can produce and execute an immersive, multi-area convention center transformation on a compressed timeline.
For FNCS at RCC, the work wasn’t just printing. It was:
-
Coordinating a large multi-surface install plan
-
Managing large-format production accuracy
-
Executing high-visibility installs (windows, truss hangs, fabric systems)
-
Delivering a cohesive branded environment—fast
And when you’re building an event meant to be experienced both in-person and on broadcast, every detail counts.
